On last night’s live show, Team Cee Lo’s Trevin Hunte went back to his roots, serenading the crowd with another ballad. Unlike his interesting rendition of Usher’s “Scream” last week, this time he went for a classic Whitney Houston song, "Greatest Love of All," which was well-received by the judges.

When Wetpaint Entertainment caught up with the young singer after the show, he spilled about his goals for the competition, his coach’s insights, and what he thinks about the rest of the judges!

So you went back to the power ballads tonight …

I sure did.

Did you feel more comfortable and more in your element tonight versus last week?

Oh yeah. Definitely. Last week, my goal was to have fun and to perform, and I felt like I took a huge risk. Coming back to this week, I kind of stayed with my wheelhouse and I feel confident about my performance.

Did you feel like you did Whitney justice with your performance?

I feel like I did an OK job. I’ll leave that up to America. She’s my idol. She was actually one of the first people that I ever studied. To be able to perform her song on a platform like this was amazing and I feel like I hopefully did her justice.

What did you do to prepare for tonight’s performance? Did you watch any old Whitney videos to relive her moves?

Yeah. Well, I try and watch Luther and Whitney and Patti — just to bring back that old school vibe and that feel-good music. I was definitely in my room practicing and studying and working hard.

Adam said that your performance tonight is something that he would be hoping to see in heaven. How did that feel?

Oh man. That was one of the greatest responses that I’ve ever had. I love Adam and he’s always so supportive and he gives me great advice. That was a good one.

What did you think of the other coaches' feedback?

I respect every one of them. I love Blake. I also love Christina. I really, really love my coach Cee Lo. He’s given me great advice throughout this whole process. I’m thankful for them.

Did you pick the Whitney song or did you and Cee Lo come up with that together?

It was kind of a collaborative effort. For the most part though I’d say that I chose that song. In this whole entire show, I try and set goals for myself. Last week’s goal with “Scream” was to have fun. This week’s goal was to perform for those people that don’t have a chance to speak up or those people that don’t have a voice.
