As The Voice season 4 gets under way, just one of the stories among many new plotlines is the inclusion of R&B star, Usher as one of the new mentors. But Usher doesn't won't be content just being a storyline. He, and the team he recruits, wants to be the storyline.
Armed with a personally successful career, Usher also another trump card that his fellow mentors can't match: Justin Bieber.
Usher is largely credited for helping to discover the teen superstar and his label helped mold Justin into the artist he is today.
When asked on the Today show about how he was going to convince contestants that he would be their best option for mentor, Usher said “It’s ultimately your passion. [The contestants] wanna know they’re getting a coach that’s gonna fight for them. I don’t play the Justin Bieber card often. I had to pull it out maybe once. When you’re looking for talent that could be like [Justin Bieber] or greater, for me I take it seriously.”
Despite his history and strategy though, Usher will have some stiff competition in returning judges Adam Levine and Blake Shelton and also fellow newbie, Shakira.
