Chris Mann, a contestant on Team Christina Aguilera, took the stage on The Voice Season 2 performance show on April 16, 2012 to sing "Viva La Vida” by Coldplay.

Coach Adam Levine was confused by the performance, saying, “I kind of thought it was a little odd, but I think that odd is good, so I'm not sure how I feel. I want to see you sing opera, because that's to me so refreshingly different."

But Christina Aguilera was glad that Chris shied away from his go-to singing style.

"The thing I love about you is that you definitely stepped out of your comfort zone," she said. "I praise that about an artist and a vocalist. I love challenging the norm, and I love that you were willing to go there."
