Team Christina contestants Dez Duron and Paulina’s voices couldn’t be more different, making for an interesting battle round on The Voice Season 3.

The duo sang Bruno Mars’s “Just the Way You Are,” ignoring a few tips from Xtina and mentor Billie Joe Armstrong and delivering a unique, heavily ad-libbed performance. It was a tough call, but the pop diva chose Dez because of his strong, consistent voice.

Although no one stole Paulina, she thanked her “wonderful” coach for teaching her so much.
