Jermaine Paul, a contestant on Team Blake Shelton, took the stage on The Voice Season 2 performance show on April 16, 2012 to sing "Against All Odds" by Phil Collins.
Judge Christina Aguilera admitted she's a bit jealous of Blake’s contestant. “I like little RaeLynn on your team, but I think he's my favorite," she confessed.
Turning her attention back to Jermaine, she praised the 33-year-old singer's performance, saying, "You're very connected with what you sing. I really feel that whatever [Blake] has thrown at you, you have really nailed it and you've found your own connection."
The only criticism came from Adam Levine who said, “You have such a rich tone in your voice … I think maybe you over-embellished a tiny bit, but you didn't need to."
But Blake Shelton felt that the performance was life-changing for Jermaine. "I'm going to keep this simple for you. I think someday you're doing to look back at this performance, and America is going to say, 'Jermaine is a superstar!'"
