Team Adam’s Melanie Martinez took a big chance by picking Cee Lo’s song — Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy” — but it all paid off on The Voice Season 3 live show tonight, Dec. 3, 2012.

The young singer debuted her new hair as she took the stage with a tiny pink piano, surrounded by creepy, faceless mannequins. She “Melanie-ized” the hit song (according to her coach) with a soft, haunting tone and little to no instrumental accompaniment.

Cee Lo bopped his head throughout the performance, immediately exclaiming, “Wow, Melanie, you and Adam have such great taste in music!” All joking aside, he added, “In many ways, we’re cut from the same cloth, honey. I think you did a great job.” Adam agreed, noting that it was “a little pitchy,” but he “didn’t care” and loved it! He told a nice story about his friend’s daughter wanting a “Melanie dress,” which helped ease the pain of Xtina’s harsh “lullaby” comment.

With the new setup, fans can vote for their favorite contestants by calling in, voting on Facebook or NBC.com, texting (for Sprint users), or by buying their song on iTunes. If you liked Melanie’s performance, be sure to vote at the end of the show!
