Melanie Martinez’s coach, Adam Levine, picked a light, fun song for her on The Voice Season 3 live show tonight, Dec. 3, 2012. The young singer “relaxed,” having fun with Lenka’s “The Show.”

The set behind her was whimsical, portraying scenes ranging from a lively park to a dolphin-filled ocean. She went along with the fun environment, but overall seemed a bit uncomfortable on stage — and Blake noticed. “That was definitely different for you,” he said, but noted it was great vocally. “I’m just left questioning the connection with the song, and I thought that would have worked better.”

Christina agreed, complimenting the set more than she directly commented on Melanie’s performance, and she even stole attention away by singing Fiona Apple in her red chair! The young singer’s coach, Adam, shot back at Xtina, claiming the set idea was actually his and Melanie’s. He ended the commentary by saying, “The lyrics are so apropos … I’m just happy that you’re here. I’m a fan and I love ya.”

With the new setup, fans can vote for their favorite contestants by calling in, voting on Facebook or NBC.com, texting (for Sprint users), or by buying their song on iTunes. If you liked Melanie’s performance, be sure to vote at the end of the show!
