Melanie Martinez picked a song from her favorite genre for the Top 12 live shows, singing Young the Giant’s “Cough Syrup.”

She brought out her “indie-folk songwriter” vibe with an emotional performance, but still put a playful twist on it. Although the Team Adam contestant started out sitting, she got on her feet soon after, and the crowd followed suit!

Everyone complimented her unique style, but her coach had the sweetest things to say.

“You’re spectacular,” Adam said. “And you’re the only one like you in the competition.”
