The Voice Season 3 introduced yet another twist tonight, Dec. 17, 2012, on the live finale: The Final 3 contestants repeated their top performance! Team Cee Lo's Nicholas David reprised Bill Withers’s “Lean on Me,” a song that even wowed the original singer!

This rendition was just as soulful, but a bit more casual than his first go-’round. A small choir sat on crates behind him as he played the piano and crooned the classic song. While we loved both times he sang this tune, something about this version had us inspired and excited — as if we needed a reason to root for him!

Adam called Nick the “principal of the School of Funky Stuff,” before saying, “That version of that song is killer. Bill Withers, he’s the dude. Doing that song justice is a hard thing to do, and you do it every time.”

His coach, Cee Lo, had plenty to rave about, saying, “You never cease to amaze me. I sit here in awe of your ability and your energy and I appreciate you so much. Nicholas, just very simply, I believe in you. You make me believe, man. You move me, Nick. You really do.”

“I don’t have nothing fancy to say, just something very sweet, something very simple, something very true and sincere,” he continued. “I love you, man.” And of course, Nick immediately rushed over to hug him afterward!

With the new setup, fans can vote for their favorite contestants by calling in, voting on Facebook or NBC.com, texting (for Sprint users), or by buying their song on iTunes. If you want Nicholas to win The Voice, be sure to vote at the end of the show!
