Team Cee Lo’s Nicholas David closed out the night with his heartwarming song choice, singing Judy Garland’s "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" for his mom on The Voice Season 3 live show tonight, Dec. 3, 2012.

Guest coach, Train’s Pat Monahan, helped Nick transform the song into a unique new version, and we were blown away by the new notes he hit, the interesting change of tempo, and how we felt transported to Oz.

All of the coaches loved it, and Adam kicked off the commentary, saying, “I love what you do every time … I am genuinely a fan of your music.” Blake agreed, adding, “That was magic, and that was beautiful. I think only you could do what you just did up there and man, congratulations.”

“I support you,” his coach, Cee Lo, concluded, noting that Nicholas “made it through so much trial and error.” The Lady Killer was ultimately very proud of Nick’s pure, unadulterated voice.

With the new setup, fans can vote for their favorite contestants by calling in, voting on Facebook or NBC.com, texting (for Sprint users), or by buying their song on iTunes. If you liked Nicholas’s performance, be sure to vote at the end of the show!
