What Was Christina Aguilera's First Single?
Christina Aguilera has been in the business for more than a decade, and during that time, she’s put out dozens of singles. But the song that started it all wasn’t about loving someone’s body or even being beautiful — it was all about a genie trapped inside a bottle.
Of course, in true Xtina fashion, her first single in 1999 was about rubbing her the right way. She wasn’t as “Dirrty” as she is today, but the song still topped the Billboard Top 100 for months and is now a popular karaoke track!
If we’re being technical, her first single was “Reflection” from Mulan, but since that one didn’t spike in the charts and was part of a compilation, we’re going to focus on “Genie in a Bottle.”
It was the first of four singles from her debut self-titled album, and set the bar high for future pop artists who followed in her footsteps. Miley ain’t got nothin’ on young Xtina!
