She’s the powerhouse singer whose “hips don’t lie,” but when exactly did Shakira start dancing? Shockingly, the 35-year-old hasn’t stopped shaking those hips in 31 years.

Back in 2002, Shakira told Rolling Stone Magazine that when she was just 4 years old, she first heard the doumbek a traditional drum often used to accompany belly dancing and heard in Arabic music.

She heard the drum at a Middle Eastern restaurant her father had taken her to, and soon found herself dancing on the table.

From that moment on, Shakira hasn’t stopped moving. The musician is known for her tight tummy and impressive moves. And though she’s currently more than six months pregnant (according to fellow Voice coach Adam Levine), Shakira’s hips are still shaking.

When she’s not recording Season 4 of The Voice, the Colombian singer is performing for her many fans.
