You’d think The Voice judge Blake Shelton would be a bit tired after mentoring his team of talented vocalists week in and week out, but the country star seems to have saved a little of that musical mojo for the rest of us, as he is currently performing across the country in his first headline tour.
Blake’s Well Lit & Amplified Tour, began in January, and will continue through the end of March, with a few scheduled appearances scattered throughout the spring and summer until August. Busy with taping The Voice this past fall, he made the decision to hang up his boots and commit fully to the television project, so that he could perform on his own tour early this year.
Joining Blake on tour is recently eliminated Voice contestant Gwen Sebastian. Gwen will also perform with Blake Shelton on the ACM Awards, airing on Sunday, April 1 on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
The Well Lit & Amplified Tour will wrap just in time for Blake to cast his vote on the live shows later next month. Of the decision to focus on the television competition, he reasoned, “Once we're live, we shut it down and concentrate on the show. We have to make my show and my team as strong as it can be.”
Speaking to country news site The Boot, he elaborated, "I want to be able to be there on the set every day, so I don't miss out on getting to know my team and the other coaches. When you are gone so much, you basically just have a working relationship with everyone, and I wanted to have more than that this time."
Now that’s the type of dedication that we and his Voice team are thankful for.
