Today Christina Aguilera is a Grammy-winning pop diva with the credentials most musicians only dream of, but she’s worked for all she has, and that journey started with Star Search in 1989.

At the time, Christina was an adorable 9-year-old songstress with a shockingly powerful voice. Sadly, the star took second on the reality show, but in 1993, Xtina joined the cast of The Mickey Mouse Club.

This hit Disney Channel show kick-started Christina’s career, and in 1998, she recorded the song “Reflection” for the Disney film Mulan. But her song that really launched her into the spotlight was 1999’s “Genie in a Bottle,” off of her self-titled debut album.

And the diva hasn’t looked back since. She currently coaches on NBC’s hit singing competition, The Voice, and on Nov. 13, 2012, she released her seventh studio album, Lotus, which has already received positive reviews from critics.
