On The Voice, the competition is all about aspiring singers, but off-screen there is another contest always in play — Which coach has the most Grammy Awards?
The coveted music award ceremony is held annually, and all six coaches — including Season 4 newbies Shakira and Usher — have a few gold statues underneath their belts. Let’s break down each singer’s trophy case:
Christina Aguilera has won four Grammy Awards: Best New Artist in 2000, Best Pop Collaboration in 2002 for “Lady Marmalade,” Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2004 for “Beautiful,” and Best Female Pop Vocal Performance in 2007 for “Ain’t No Other Man. She also took home one Latin Grammy Award (for Best Female Pop Vocal Album in 2001 for Mi Reflejo.
Adam Levine and his band, Maroon 5, have taken home three Grammy Awards. In 2005, they won Best New Artist, in 2006 they won Best Pop Performance By a Duo or Group for “This Love,” and in 2008, they won the same award for “Makes Me Wonder.” They were also nominated six other times, including for their 2012 collaboration with Xtina on “Moves Like Jagger”!
Blake Shelton has been nominated for Grammy Awards three times, but sadly has never won. However, he sweeps the CMT Music Awards and CMA Awards almost every year!
Cee Lo Green took home 5 Grammy Awards out of 13 nominations throughout the past five years. He won Best Urban/Alternative Performance for “Crazy” with Gnarls Barkley in 2007, and then Best Alternative Music Album for St. Elsewhere the same year. In 2010, he won Best Urban/Alternative Performance again for “F— You,” and doubled up this year when he won Best R&B Song and Best Traditional R&B Performance for “Fool For You.”
Usher was nominated for 17 Grammy Awards throughout his 14-year career, and won eight times. In 2002 and 2003, he took home Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for “U Remind Me” and “U Don’t Have To Call” respectively, and then won Best Contemporary R&B Album for Confessions, Best Rap/Sung Collaboration for “Yeah!” (with Lil’ Jon and Ludacris), and Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group for “My Boo” (featuring Alicia Keys) in 2005. He won Best R&B Male Vocal Performance for “There Goes My Baby” and Best Contemporary R&B Album for Raymond V Raymond in 2011. Most recently, he took home the gold statue for Best R&B Performance for "Climax" in 2013.
Shakira received two Grammy Awards from five nominations, winning Best Latin Pop Album for MTV Unplugged and Best Latin Rock/Alternative Album for Fijación Oral Vol. 1. But if you count her Latin Grammy Awards, she also won eight awards out of sixteen nominations there!
