Today Adam Levine is an international superstar in his own right, but he’s also the frontman for the hit group, Maroon 5.

The four original members of the band have been friends since their days at Brentwood School (grades K-12) in Los Angeles. They formed the pop band Kara’s Flowers and released the album The Fourth World in 1996, which was a commercial flop.

Adam said that the album’s failure almost led them to disband in 1998. Fortunately, they kept going, and changed the band name to erase some of their failed past. Thus, Maroon 5 was born.

Maroon 5 brought on guitarist James Valentine who went to school with John Mayer, and John liked the band’s album, particularly the song “This Love,” so much that he invited them to open for his 2003 tour.

The rest, as they say, is history! Today Maroon 5 is one of the top bands in the world, touring internationally and constantly on the top of the iTunes charts.

In June they released their fifth studio album, Overexposed, to rave reviews.
