The Voice 2013 had its first Season 4 live elimination on May 8 and there were some pretty big surprises!
In case you need a refresher on the rules, America voted for their favorites during the live playoffs earlier this week, and these results determined the bottom two for each team. Then, each coach had the painstakingly difficult task of saving one artist — and sending the other home!
After tonight's elimination, there will be only 12 constants left in the competition. Read on to see who didn't make the cut this season:
Team Blake Shelton
Danielle Bradbery and Holly Tucker were declared safely immediately thanks to America’s votes, leaving The Swon Brothers and Justin Rivers in jeopardy of elimination. Blake was shocked to see these three talented men in this position, but it's a competition and someone must go home. In the end, Blake said he wanted to keep things interesting and saved The Swon Brothers, sending Justin back home to Mobile, Alabama.
Immediately declared safe by America's votes were Sasha Allen (no surprise there) and Kris Thomas (somewhat surprising). Shakira rambled on for a bit before saving young rocker Garrett Gardner, and in an unexpected move, telling fellow Latina powerhouse Karina Iglesias adios!
Safe right off the bat thanks to America were alternative rocker Michelle Chamuel and (it's) Vedo (baby). Between the bottom two artists — Cáthia and Josiah Hawley — Usher saved former model and resident Voice heartthrob Josiah (yes, really), sending the 19-year-old Latina lady on her way.
Team Adam Levine
After America's votes from the live playoffs, former Michael Jackson backup singer Judith Hill and country cutie Amber Carrington were immediately declared safe. In the bottom two were sweet-sounding Sarah Simmons and coffeehouse crooner Caroline Glaser. It was a tough decision for coach Adam, who took forever to make up his mind but ultimately saved Sarah, sending Caroline back to Missouri.
