After modeling for years, The Voice contestant Erin Martin is now at the center of a competition that has nothing to do with her physical appearance … and that’s the way she likes it.

While she enjoyed modeling, the pressure to be thin was too much for the 27-year-old. On her website she was quoted saying, “My agency was on me all the time because I was the girl who was a little bit chubbier than all the really lanky, waif-y, skinny girls. They always wanted me to get skinnier, and that in the end made me quit modeling.”

As one door closed, many others opened, and Erin started songwriting and performing. She performed at Chicago’s Summerfest and Lollapalooza.

Erin had a brief appearance on the VH1 show Rock of Love with Bret Michaels, but only lasted one episode. Bret said Erin was too innocent for the show, and that she should focus on perfecting her music.

And that’s what she’s been doing ever since. Her original song “Balloon” was featured on the ABC Family show Pretty Little Liars. She also released her first EP “Come Together” and has made several music videos.

This singer is looking to prove that she’s more than just a pretty face, although it was Cee Lo Green’s overly flirtatious compliments that convinced her to pick him over judge Blake Shelton.
