Duncan Kamakana is a Hawaiian native with music in his blood. He is the son of award-winning songwriter, and recording artist Jonathan Kamakawiwo`ole Osorio and was thus raised in a very musical household. After attending Hawaii’s famous Kamehameha Schools, Duncan honed his musical abilities and moved to the mainland shortly after graduation. In 2009 Duncan began work with the Detroit-based record label Core808 on a debut album with the group Pure N8ive, and in January 2010 they released their first single “As Close as This.”
