Shocker! Simon Would Have Cancelled X Factor USA Without Paula

While Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell become quintessential frenemies whenever they get together on a judging panel, Simon admits that the twosome's chemistry is nonpareil — to the point where he would have canned production on X Factor USA before it even started had Paula not signed on!

"We'd always said we'd work together again," Simon revealed to Emmy magazine (via Digital Spy). "At one point, when [Paula's] deal came down to the 11th hour, I remember saying to the team, 'If she's not there, you may as well cancel filming.' I really felt that strongly that I wanted her with me."

Simon, are we sensing genuine feelings of — gulp — warmth towards your petite and punchy co-star? Apparently so!

"I'd forgotten how much I missed her," he confessed of his panel-mate. "Think of it like having a pet for years and years — you move away, get on with your life and forget the pet a bit. Then suddenly you're reunited and you remember how much you loved it!"

Sigh. There's the SiCo we know and love...
