Known for his discerning saltiness on The X Factor, turns out Simon Cowell is actually a big-hearted hero at sea! According to TMZ, while Simon and an ex-girlfriend were vacationing on his yacht in St. Tropez, he orchestrated the emergency rescue of nine people from a sinking 35-foot boat.  

The report says that when passengers aboard Simon’s yacht heard the distress calls coming from the quickly-sinking boat, Simon ordered the captain to locate it so that they could save it and all those aboard. Simon’s captain fished the nine people to safety and then plugged the hole — saving the boat as well!

Looks like Simon has excellent taste in both singing talent and boat captains.
