Why We Thought Chris Rene Could Have Won The X Factor USA
Hip-hop artist Chris Rene's emotional audition segment made him an instant standout with X Factor fans. Chris’s rendition of his original melodic hip-hop tune “Young Homie” was honest and genuinely captivating.
His performances were consistently good-to-great, and Chris has undeniable stage presence. Also, his musical style is both current and easily identifiable, which is always a plus in this type of competition. Fans don’t have to wonder what type of record they’d get if Chris had won, and record execs don’t have to worry about what genre will work for him — his identity is clear.
His knockout performance of an original song on the night the contestants had their Pepsi songs yanked away was a huge boost as well. Adapatability is a big plus.
Along with all the talent-based reasons Chris could have won, there’s also the matter of his backstory — people love to root for an underdog! A newly-sober dad who’s trying to do right by his son is a compelling bit of drama that gives people just one more reason to throw the guy a few votes. Chris is an obvious candidate for the “aww, he really needs it” vote.
What did you think? IShould Chris have taken home the big prize?
