Is host Steve Jones returning to The X Factor next season? It’s not looking likely, if you listen to what Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment for FOX, said today at the Television Critics Association gathering in Pasadena.
After stating that there will definitely be changes in the show next season, Reilly said it is too early to say what those changes would be. But asked specifically about the host job, Reilly said “whether Steve is the guy or not,” it has become clear that being a host of a competition show “is a much harder job than meets the eye.” He added that everyone realizes the value of a Ryan Seacrest.
Speaking of Ryan! With all the rumors about the American Idol host being courted by NBC for the Today show, Reilly said it is “hard to imagine [Idol] without Ryan.” He said that Ryan’s future on the show is “a deal issue," and predicted that the negotiations with him would come to a conclusion “pretty quickly.”
