Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney Deny Divorce Rumors Ahead of One-Year Anniversary
With their one-year anniversary just over a month away, you’d think Tom Schwartz and Katie Maloney would be madly in love right now.
Unfortunately, in recent weeks the Vanderpump Rules newlyweds have been plagued by rumors they’re on the brink of divorce.
But before you start preaching that all Vanderpump marriages are cursed, let’s hear from the couple themselves, shall we?
Both parties attended an event at SUR this week, and they made sure to stop by E! News to clarify what’s really going on in their marriage.
Before we get into the specifics, let’s get one thing straight: These two are still together, and the rumors are just that — rumors.
The pair muses to the site that this gossip is only due to them not posting a lot of pictures together on social media.
“We don't heavily document our lives too much,” Katie reasons.
Tom chimes in, “I just like putting weird and random stuff on my social media. I didn't even notice that.
“It wasn't an indication of some sort of subconscious reflection of the status of our relationship.”
That’s pretty reasonable — we’re just surprised they’ve even addressed something so ridiculous. Then again, it sounds like they needed to do so for their families.
Both admit their mothers called them to make sure everything was going OK in their relationship.
“We are madly in love,” the 30-year-old gal gushes. “I feel like marriage really suits us.”
She does concede that it wasn’t all smooth sailing, but that the majority of the time has been “blissful.”
She details, “We've been through so much, especially since last summer.”
“Everyone says the first year of marriage is the hardest, but it's been like 89 percent blissful.”
Her new hubby agrees, theorizing that their “15 years worth of fighting” over the last few years has worked in their favor.
“We like to think that we exercised all the bad stuff,” he says with a laugh.
He adds, “We're not pretending that we're perfect. We have our ups and downs, but for the most part — at least relatively speaking in comparison to our earlier relationship — it's been blissful."
We’ll see all of this corroborated on-screen, too, as the couple’s first year has been documented by the show — something they see as being very helpful and “cathartic.”
“I think having us put our stuff out there on the show, we can't leave any questions unanswered or any rock unturned,” she states.
“But I think because we've had to do that that, we've been able to do a lot of work on ourselves and in our relationship.”
Vanderpump Rules Season 6 premieres later in 2017 on Bravo.
