True Blood Tops Cable Ratings With Season 6, Episode 7: “In the Evening”

For the second week running, True Blood, HBO’s best show about vampires (sorry, Newsroom!) topped the cable ratings, coming in at number one among all cable channels. If you needed more proof that the show has returned to form with Season 6, it’s very, very difficult to argue with numbers like these. We could not be more pleased to see that the tiny town of Bon Temps is attracting more viewers than Dexter, Devious Maids, and Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

What’s it’s secret? It’s not like it’s a shocking one. Of course True Blood is attracting more viewers —instead of the one or two killers on Dexter, True Blood features literally dozens of blood-swillin’ killers! And who needs a maid — devious or otherwise — when you are Sam Merlotte, living a life on the run with pauses for funerals of loved ones? We must say, that as compelling as we find the Kardashians — and we truly do — the only way they could beat our gang of southern supes is by growing fangs. In fact, this is a brilliant idea and one we believe Kris Jenner should look into post-haste.

The story this season has been tight and compelling. With the introduction of Warlow, Sookie’s freshly-asserted sense of self, the perils of Vamp Camp, and increased danger for all and sundry, it’s sure to stay that way. Plus, with the death of Terry, and to a lesser extent, the Governor and Nora, the show continues to prove that it isn’t afraid to pull punches
