Tracy Morgan Surprised By Medical Team From Car Accident at Comedy Show
Tracy Morgan honored the hospital team who saved his life with a special performance, but during a recent show in New York City, the comedian was the one in for a pleasant surprise.
During Tracy’s 90-minute stand-up show at Caroline’s on June 2, the funnyman was surprised by the medical personnel who helped him recover from his horrific June 2014 car accident.
Radar Online reports the 47-year-old brought his show to a halt when he noticed a large table of doctors and nurses sitting in the audience.
Realizing they were the people who work at New Jersey’s J.F.K. Medical Center, the Bronx native exclaimed, “These people saved my life!” before cracking jokes about the attendants cleaning his bedpan and a no-nonsense nurse he called Jackie who yelled at him for singing.
After the show was over, the comic began to cry as he brought the hospital staffers to the stage and asked the audience for a round of applause. He later hugged and chatted with the team.
“There wasn’t a dry eye in the house,” an audience member tells Radar.
The funnyman and several other passengers were in a near-fatal collision on the New Jersey turnpike, which took the life of friend James McNair.
I gotta say Tracy Morgan did his thing. He was charismatic and funny as hell and had the audience laughing and crying all at once. He had the entire staff from the hospital that saved his life, including the doctors, nurses, physical therapists and "the guys who cleaned his shit" as his guests front and center. And he brought them all on stage so that they could get the standing ovation we were all giving to him...so powerful, so emotional. So incredible to be able to see him again. Thank you @realtracymorgan for running from that white light cuz you thought it was the cops....lmmfao!!!! #TracyMorgan #CarolinesOnBroadway
After suffering several broken bones, trauma, and a two-week coma, the 30 Rock actor was eventually able to recover.
If it weren’t for those dedicated physicians, Tracy wouldn’t be on the stage and for that we’re just as thankful!
