Tristan MacManus Is Leaving Dancing With the Stars For Strictly Come Dancing
Sad news from across the pond: Dancing With the Stars pro Tristan MacManus will not be gracing us with his tongue and tousled hair in the fall 2014’s Season 19. Instead, Digital Spy reports, he is joining the U.K. version of the show, Strictly Come Dancing, as one of their competing pros.
So he’ll still dance for scores, possibly still from dual show judges Len Goodman and Bruno Tonioli, he’ll just do it from London instead of Los Angeles. (And if Len does leave the U.S. show, Strictly will start to look a lot more like DWTS than DWTS.)
This is not what we wanted to hear. Tristan was very much missed on the spring 2014 Season 18, and we hoped it was just a one-time thing, with his Irish eyes smiling back onto our TV sets in the fall. Just give him a good partner — at least once! — that’s all we asked. Maybe he’ll get that on Strictly, and maybe he’ll end up in the Finals. Maybe he’ll win. Maybe he won’t even miss us. (Sniff.)
In other DWTS-related news, Digital Spy said the hunkalicious Artem Chigvintsev, a former Strictly pro, has decided to stay in the U.S. after joining the pro troupe in Season 18. So maybe he’ll even be bumped up to competing pro status in Season 19, we’ll have to stay tuned.
Anyway, congrats to Tristan on his new gig — we’ll try to keep up with his dances online and cheer him on from afar. But this means our dream for him to return next season has officially been crushed. Sigh. Is it too soon to start campaigning for his return in Season 20?
