Troian Bellisario Is Not Into Competing Against Lucy Hale For 2014 Teen Choice Award

Both Troian Bellisario (Spencer) and Lucy Hale (Aria) are nominated for “Choice TV Actress: Drama” at the 2014 Teen Choice Awards. It could be awkward that two Pretty Little Liars starlets are up for the same award, but our Liars are far too classy for that. What did Troian tweet about competing with co-star Lucy for the TCA?

“Don’t like being in competition with goose but it’s great because if either one of us wins #pll wins,” Troian tweeted in response to a fan’s question about the potential awkwardness. Aww! We love this. Far too often women, especially young women, in Hollywood are positioned or portrayed to be in competition with one another, which is totally unnecessary. We can all support one another, and recognize that another’s success is separate from our own. It is particularly fitting that, in this particular case of subverting The Chickfight Trope, it involves two of our favorite actresses from a show that subverts that trope with every episode and every scene.

In addition to Troian and Lucy’s nominations, Ian Harding and Keegan Allen are also nominated for “Choice TV Actor: Drama.” Last year, Pretty Little Liars took home the surfboard for “Choice Summer TV Show,” and Troian and Ian also won in their respective categories. Go, team!

Who do you think will win the TCAs? Are you digging Troian’s team attitude as much as we are? Sound off in the comments below!
