Troian Bellisario in Exiles: Pretty Little Liars Star on Why She Loves New Short Film

As devoted Troian Bellisario (Spencer) fans probably know, on top of her busy sched as a TV star, the Pretty Little Liars actress has been working hard on a passion project called Exiles. The Romeo & Juliet inspired short film hits its first film festival soon (Saturday, June 29, to be precise), and Troian recently took to Twitter to express her excitement and discuss the film.

First, here's the trailer for the film, which Troian wrote and stars in. And here's the description:

Exiled from civilization, a young murderer waits for his wife, a reckless runaway who leaves everything behind to follow him. After braving punishment, death, and the unknown, she arrives. But now pitted against a terrifying and endless desert environment, two lovers realize they are complete strangers as banishment begins to tear them apart.

Exiles is a brutal and atmospheric addendum to the greatest love story of all time. What if the tragedy of Romeo and Juliet wasn’t that they died… but that they lived?

Obviously, this is a very different take on Romeo and Juliet's story than the one people are used to. What drew Troian to create this film? She answered in a tweet.

As for working on the film, Troian was excited to play one of her "favorite characters" and "to create a world."

For those of you who were wondering, Troian will of course be going to the festival herself to see her "baby" debut.

And if you can't make it to a film festival, never fear: Troian hopes to make the film available more widely soon.
