Who would have thought True Blood ratings for the Season 6 premiere could possibly overcome the Game of Thrones ratings for the HBO hit’s Season 3 premiere? Sucks to not be a vampire!

As an incestuous queen once said, when you play the game of thrones, you either win or you die. True Blood had more viewers for its Season 6 premiere than HBO sibling Game of Thrones had for its Season 3 premiere. So ... sorry, GoT, but we won. You've been usurped.

According to Deadline, True Blood Season 6, Episode 1 brought in 4.5 million viewers, which is just a tad more than GoT's premiere numbers of 4.4 million. That’s even with True Blood ratings actually being down a bit from the 5.2 million who watched the Season 5 premiere. Part of that may be due to this year's debut facing off the NBA Finals. Maybe those viewers will be back for the rest of the season. GoT kept gaining numbers, hitting record highs throughout its season. We hope True Blood just keeps growing as well.

We know there's a major character death coming, and no Truebie is going to want to miss being there for the shocking event. Not that any Truebie wants the event to happen at all, but it will probably bring its own little ratings boost. Que sera, sera.
