Anna broached the subject when discussing how the paparazzi are now more interested in her and co-star husband Stephen Moyer because "in, like, celebrity math, actor plus actor plus baby equals interesting" and they just welcomed twins. So they are doubly fascinating.
But the problem is, all those pap photos just highlight her syndrome. "It's interesting because then I get to see these really lovely pictures of me looking apparently really miserable all the time with my kids,” Anna said. “I saw this thing on the Internet which is like a fake PSA, but I think I really related. It's called Bitchy Resting Face. And it's basically — I apparently suffer from a really severe case of Bitchy Resting Face."
What does it mean? What are the symptoms? "It basically means if you are kind of caught off guard and you're not smiling, and it means you look really angry all the time, or like you want to kill people, or you're a giant bitch. And apparently that's pretty much how I come across. It's like I'm really happy [in reality], my life's good..."
Jimmy asked her for an example and she gave a kind of over-it expression. Other symptoms include a furrowed-brow, frown, or intense "concentration face" even if you're just lost in your own thoughts and aren’t actually upset about anything.
"My husband has the exact opposite," Anna said, calling it "Resting Happy Face." Even when Stephen is exhausted and tired he looks happy, she said, "which is kind of annoying."
That is annoying. Bitchy Complaining Face! Thankfully, Anna said their twins are both very happy, so maybe their resting faces will take after Dad. Not that we have any complaints about Anna’s face. We’ll trade her, any day!
