True Blood’s Arlene Fowler Bellefleur would be cussing up a storm if she was in portrayer Carrie Preston’s shoes. The fiery redhead was nominated for the 2013 Emmys, but there’s a catch — it’s for her guest-starring role as Elsbeth Tascioni on CBS’ The Good Wife, not for the popular vampire drama.

Carrie is up for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama series, going up against two fellow HBO stars (Game of Thrones’ Diana Rigg and The Newsroom’s Jane Fonda) plus Shameless’ Joan Cusack, The Americans’ Margo Martindale, and Mad Men’s Linda Cardellini.

This is Carrie’s first Emmy nomination, though she previously received a Critics’ Choice nomination for the same role. Sadly, she lost out to Jane Fonda, but hopefully that won’t be the case this year.

To date, she has been on seven episodes of The Good Wife, playing a quirky — and slightly scatterbrained — lawyer. Last year, she told Wetpaint Entertainment that she’d love to see the “tables turned” on Elsbeth, and then in Season 4, she was arrested. We’ll be waiting anxiously to hear her wish list for Season 5, and hey — maybe if she wishes to win the Emmy, it will happen, too.

Are you surprised that Carrie was nominated for The Good Wife and not True Blood? Sound off below.
