After hyping up to a big death all season, True Blood lost a series regular last night. As we dry our tears the day after, we have one burning question on our minds: Was it even that shocking?

In the final minutes of the episode, Terry Bellefleur was shot and killed while happily taking out the trash at Merlotte’s. After being glamoured to forget his time in the war, he wasn’t suicidal or even sad anymore, but it didn’t matter — the friend he recruited to shoot him came through, and in a heartbreaking moment, his wife, Arlene, sang “Hush Little Baby” to him as he bled out.

There’s no denying that this was absolutely devastating, but it wasn’t all that surprising. There was a twist in that we thought he was safe, but as he skipped out to the dumpster, Truebies knew at heart that something bad was coming. Can anyone really be that happy in Bon Temps?

However, there could still be a big death coming. No one is safe — especially with Billith’s prophecy at Vamp Camp — and this could just be the True Blood writers tricking us. But, with that aside, were you disappointed in the death? Do you wish that someone bigger died on the show, or are you glad your favorites are still safe?

Sound off in the reaction buttons, Truebies, and feel free to leave your favorite Terry moments in the comments below.
