Of all the twists we expected from tonight's True Blood Season 6, Episode 8: "Dead Meat," a surprise pregnancy wasn't one of them. So color us shocked when we discovered that Sam's new girlfriend, Nicole Wright, is carrying his child.

While Nicole has yet to actually take a pregnancy test (or, as far as we know, even realize she might be pregnant), the fact that both Alcide and Sam smelled that she was pregnant (weird) leads us to believe we're supposed to take their conclusion at face value, at least for now.

Obviously, this could mean big changes for Sam. He's been so unlucky in love for so long, it's hard to imagine him settling down and raising a family, but Nicole was ready to stay in Bon Temps with him, and she doesn't even know about the baby. Chances are, she'll be ready to commit once she finds out.

Of course, this is Bon Temps, and Nicole is a relatively minor character, and you know what that means: She could be killed at any time. Perhaps the writers are setting this story up just so Sam can be even more heartbroken when the other shoe drops. We hope not, for Sam's sake, but with True Blood, happiness tends not to last for long.
