Bad news, Truebies: It looks like True Blood’s 10-episode seasons are here to stay. Seasons 1-5 each had 12 episodes, but Season 6 was shortened to just 10 eps to accommodate star Anna Paquin (Sookie Stackhouse) after the birth of her twins.
Now it’s looking like Season 7 — which could be the show’s last — is following suit with just 10 weekly instalments. Executive producer Brian Buckner seemingly let the cat out of the bag when answering a question for TV Guide about whether or not viewers can look forward to a glimpse of Sam and Nicole’s hybrid baby next season.
His answer began with, “Our 10 episodes [usually] take place over the course of two weeks.”
Hybrid baby aside, we’re a bit surprised that it seems like Season 7 will only include 10 episodes. If it is True Blood’s last season then we’d hope the cast and crew would be able to go out with a full 12-episode order.
Still Brian has made it clear that he won’t find out about the future of the show until next month, so we suppose the number of episodes is still up in the air.
Do you think Season 7 should have 10 episodes, or do you think the 12 episode structure works better? Weigh in below!
