It’s only been a few days since HBO announced True Blood will officially be ending after its seventh season concludes next summer, but Carrie Preston (Arlene Fowler-Bellefleur) already has her sights on a new TV gig.

E! Online reports that the 46-year-old actress will guest star on Season 2 of The Following as Judy, serial killer Joe Carroll’s “most loyal groupie.” While Joe was perceived dead at the end of The Following’s Season 1 finale, his portrayer James Purefoy confirmed at Comic-Con a few months ago that he will be back as a series regular for the hit show’s sophomore season, which premieres in January 2014.

Despite the new gig, True Blood and it’s upcoming end is still on Carrie’s mind. Earlier this week she tweeted, “I'm sad, but we have 1 more season to keep making it better.”

Luckily, Carrie has something else to distract her from True Blood’s series finale: an Emmy nomination! The versatile and lovable performer was nominated for her guest work as Elsbeth Tascioni on CBS' The Good Wife, another show she is set to return to in the coming months.

The Emmys are scheduled to air on September 22, and we look forward to seeing Carrie on The Following in 2014!
