True Blood star Carrie Preston is known for playing Arlene Fowler Bellefleur, but she was at the Creative Arts Emmys on September 15 at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles for another show: CBS’ The Good Wife!

Before the redheaded beauty took home the Emmy for her fantastic work as Elsbeth Tascioni, she chatted exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment about the end of True Blood — including if Eric will return — her future in television, and more!

Read on for our full chat, then hit the comments with your thoughts about Arlene’s role in Season 7 and your congratulations for the Emmy winner!

Wetpaint Entertainment: Now that you’ve done The Good Wife and Person of Interest, is there another show that you would love to guest-star on?

Carrie Preston: Look, I’m a TV-aholic. What I do is I download them and then I watch them at the gym and I watch them on the airplane, I watch it on my iPad. So anything that’s on iTunes, I’m like, “Ooh, let me try that!” iTunes is making some big cash off me I think!

I love Girls — I think that’s a great show. I think it’s a very innovative, interesting, and important show. So it would be fun to be on that show, you know? I don’t know in what capacity, but I’d do something on Girls, and plus, I love working for HBO.

Speaking of HBO, with the announcement that next season will be True Blood’s last, where would you like to see Arlene go? She needs a man now!

She really does, but at the same time, it’s kind of great that she’s now running the business. It’s Bellefleur’s Bar and Grill, and I think that’s kind of great for Arlene — who is kind of always leaning on a man to be in a moment — where she can now, sadly, thanks to her husband [dying], stand on her own, take care of her kids, revive or help her town out, and run the bar the way it should have been run from the beginning!

One of the big questions on everybody’s mind is if Eric Northman will be coming back...

You know I can’t say that! But there is a big fanbase for Eric. So that’s all I’ll say about that.

Any other TV spots coming up for you?

I’m doing The Following right now. It’s good, it’s good. It’s dark! It’s creepy! But it’s really fun to play something different like that.

How do you prepare for a role like that when it’s not exactly something you can relate to?

Especially since I got cast on a Tuesday night and Thursday morning I was on set. So it was like boom, very quick, very quick. That’s the way they do it when you’re a guest, you just have to jump in!
