For us viewers, the seventh and final season of True Blood doesn’t even start until this Sunday, June 22, but the cast is way ahead of us and had the table read for the series finale earlier this month. As can be expected, series star Stephen Moyer (Bill Compton) tells TVLine that there wasn’t a dry eye in the house.

People turned up that we hadn’t seen for ages — [series creator] Alan [Ball] was there,” he dished. Alan’s return isn’t that surprising since he only stepped down as showrunner at the end of Season 5, but we’re eager to learn about the other “people” who were present at this emotional table read. A lot of our faves are dead, but that doesn’t mean they can’t pop up in flashbacks!

Even if old faces hadn’t come back for more, it sounds like the final table read would have been tough to get through regardless. “We’re sitting in the same room we’ve been reading in for seven years… that stuff’s really deep,” Stephen said.

We’re sure it was a bittersweet day for everyone in the cast and crew, but we’d imagine that Stephen and Anna Paquin’s (Sookie Stackhouse) attachment to the series runs especially deep. The pair met and fell in love thanks to True Blood, and they have since gotten married and even welcomed twins Charlie and Poppy in 2012. Sookie may not be with Bill now, but rest assured that Stephen and Anna certainly got their own storybook ending!
