Is Anna Paquin Australian?
You Asked, We Answered!
Anna Paquin’s been through her fair share of accents. She rocked her native New Zealand dialect during her Oscar-winning performance in The Piano, a Southern drawl on True Blood, and a regular old Cali-girl accent in real life.
So where the hell is Anna from?
Anna was born in Canada, but moved to New Zealand (which is near Australia, for those of you who think she’s an Aussie) when she was four.
When her parents divorced, Anna moved to Los Angeles and grew out of her strong Kiwi accent, picking up an American cadence along the way!
Anna was asked about losing her New Zealand accent in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, and said, “My accent comes out when I talk to my family.”
