True Blood’s Season 5 finale left us with a lot of questions — especially about Bill Compton. The shocking final moments had us convinced that our favorite vamp was a goner, but then he rose from a pool of blood, stark naked, just like the ancient vampire we saw a lot of this season: Lilith. But the question is, was he reborn as Billith?

“I don’t want to say if he is or he isn’t,” creator Alan Ball told TVLine. “Who’s to say what Lilith really is? He is still Bill but he is something different.”

Is the old Bill lost and gone forever? Not quite.

“It is Bill, but it is a transformed Bill. He is not a completely new person,” Alan added. "It’s not like his memories or his experiences have been left out and he’s just a baby.”

And since the departing showrunner technically doesn’t have any say on what will happen to Bill next season, he has a few questions of his own.

“Is he going to be evil? What does he want? What is he going to do? Will he be able to revert back to Bill? That’s for future seasons,” Alan spilled. “The implication, certainly, is that he is more ferocious.”

And since Eric swept in to save the day more than once on the finale, does that make him the latest True Blood hero? Alan isn’t so sure.

“I never really looked at Eric as the bad guy and Bill as the good guy — at least not since the very early seasons,” Alan admitted. “But it remains to be seen what will go down with both of them.”

One other finale mystery involved the elusive Warlow. When asked if the vamp was someone we’ve met before, Alan kept his lips sealed, but did say, “We didn’t want to really define Warlow until the next season.”

So, does that mean that True Blood Season 6 will be Warlow-centric? Perhaps.

“I think  he’ll be kind of a big part in it,” Alan spilled. And hopefully he’ll be doing more than haunting Sookie’s bathroom!
