Now that True Blood Season 6 is only a month away, we've heard some of our fans asking: Will showrunner Alan Ball be returning? Well, if you are an Alan Ball fan, we're afraid to tell you he will not be back for the next installment of the series.

Back in May, we reported that Ball would not be joining our friends in Bon Temps for another season, and unfortunately, his decision to step down still stands — but the series creator and current executive producer will maintain a strong presence on-set, as a special advisor to the show.

In his place will be new showrunner Mark Hudis, who has served as True Blood co-executive producer for the past two seasons.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ball will be focusing his energy on a few new projects, including Banshee for Cinemax and the development of Wichita for HBO.

How do you think this change in leadership will affect the show? Are you excited for some fresh blood, or is Ball the only authority you trust?
