Robert Pattinson: True Blood Is a Twilight Copycat
Vampires are the new black — followed closely by werewolves, which are the new grey. These fanged supernaturals have been dominating pop culture since the early 2000s, and according to Robert Pattinson, it’s all thanks to Twilight.
"It’s like that Coke versus Pepsi thing, and how Coke just said, ‘There’s a reason everyone compares themselves to us,’" R.Patz explains. "Twilight was the original and everybody’s trying to copy it. They’re all just trying to jump aboard the Twilight train."
Woah, there. Them’s fighting words, glitter boy. Twilight came out in 2008, and while it’s true that True Blood came out an entire year later in summer 2009, let’s not forget that they were both based on books. True Blood was penned by Charlaine Harris way back in 2001 and Stephanie Meyer published Twilight in 2005.
You do the math.
