Rutina Wesley: Tara as a Vampire Is a "Game-Changer"
What happens when a vampire hater becomes one herself?
Vampire-fearing Tara must face the demon inside her after being turned in last night's True Blood premiere. Rutina Wesley tells TV Line that this is "a whole new Tara" — one who may not forgive best friend Sookie Stackhouse or cousin Lafayette Reynolds for their choice to "save" her.
"Only time will tell," she says of Tara forgiving her friends. "I can say that the relationships will never be the same. It’s definitely a game-changer on many levels."
After getting shot in the head, Rutina had no idea what Tara's fate would be, but she's happy to explore a new side of her character ... and some different makeup effects.
"There was a point when Stephen [Moyer] came up to me in the makeup trailer and said, 'Still enjoying being a vampire?'" she laughed. "It is difficult. It’s a whole new routine you have to get used to. But it’s been so much fun."
Rutina is also having fun acting with Kristin Bauer van Straten, who plays Tara's maker, Pamela.
"I think Kristin Bauer is a goddess," she says. "She’s the one person who I hadn’t worked with, so it’s been amazing to get the chance to work with her.
"Their relationship is going to be fun because they both say what they want. They’re both like, 'Whatever.' It’s going to be interesting to see how that relationship grows — if it does grow."
We're so there for a Pam/Tara snark-off!
