As excited as True Blood fans are that season 5 filming is underway, the stars of the show are just as thrilled.
"The first table read was just hugs and kisses and ‘what have you been doing?’" she told us.
"Everybody’s done so much in the hiatus — people have produced films, they’ve gone trekking through mountains, they’ve had babies. We seriously need an internal newsletter! There’s no way I could know about it all so the first day was a lot of catching up.”
The only downside of returning to work: the amazing craft services food on the set — especially Janina’s favorite, freeze-dried apple crisps.
“People go, ‘where are the crisps? Gimme the crisps!’ They’re so yummy. We have a plethora of goodies at our disposal at all times,” she laughed.
Janina compensates for her apple crisp binges and keeps her Truebie form by working out with a personal trainer. “I was kind of bad during the off-season, but now I’m back to the usual grind in the gym,” she confessed to Wetpaint Entertainment.
“Any day I’m not working I’m getting my ass kicked by my trainer, Ryan Naumann. He just knows how to make me melt. I’ve never been somebody who’s been athletic or ever wanted to be so it takes a lot to make me do it. He’s somehow managed to crack the code and get it right,” she said.
Janina “absolutely” feels the Hollywood pressure on actresses to stay in shape. “I’m not going pretend that I don’t but I made the decision — I’m not going to be skinny, I’m going to be strong. That’s my thing. I’m not going to diet like a crazy person. I eat healthy, of course, but I’m never going to make [dieting] a priority.”
And why should she? As our recent November 29 birthday tribute (on five reasons why we love her) pointed out, she’s gorgeous.
Janina, 31, told us Thursday night, “Wetpaint did the nicest ‘happy birthday’ ever. It was so unexpected. I was so humbled. Thank you, Wetpaint!"
