While Luna’s life hangs in the balance after her latest skinwalking experience on True Blood’s Season 5 finale, her portrayer, Janina Gavankar, is doing just fine.

The talented actress started off in the music business with her all-female, now-disbanded group Endera. Over the years, she has collaborated with many different artists, covered Kanye West, and licensed her songs to movies and television shows, but it wasn’t until this week that she truly made her comeback.

Her newest single, “Waiting for Godot,” premiered on Complex.com on Monday, Aug. 28, and is based loosely on the famed Samuel Beckett play of the same name.

“It's about two men who wait for a man who never comes,” Janina told Artist Direct. “It really represents an unrequited 'something.' I wanted to use it as a launch pad for a conversation.”

The other important part of the song is its slow build and fall. It starts off low-key, almost haunting, before launching into full-blown dubstep and then dropping back to soaring vocals and a full orchestra and choir.

And in addition to working with dubstep producer extraordinaire Cory Enemy, Janina also worked with the youngest violinist in Trans-Siberian Orchestra history, Caitlin Moe, who the actress says is “alien-talented.” And with the three of them — and the astounding 25 choir parts — combined, Janina said, “It was like a piece of marble we chipped away at until it was perfect.”

While there is no release date set for Janina’s full EP, she promises that it’s coming — and each track will be artistically different, yet connected.

“The only thing that might be similar is I'm singing on all of them,” she said with a laugh. “One feels like a sculpture. One feels like a painting. One feels like f—king cross-stitch. They all feel different.”
