Occupation: Former Commanding Marine Officer
Who is Patrick Devins?
Patrick Devins was Terry Bellefleur's commanding officer in Iraq. He came to visit Terry to ask if he knew where their former platoon member, Brian Eller, was, because he believed Brian had set fire to his own house and two other squad members’ residences.
A curious Arlene Fowler Bellefleur also approached Patrick to ask if he knew why Terry was having PTSD flashbacks, but Devins told her he didn’t know. The truth eventually came out that the Marines had killed an innocent family in Iraq while partying, and the guilt was affecting Terry.
Patrick assumed that same guilt was causing Eller to hunt down each squad member and kill them by setting their homes on fire. When they found Eller, he tied them both up, explaining that due to their actions in Iraq, they’d all been cursed to die at the hands of a fire spirit called an Ifrit.
Even with Terry’s agreement, Devins was still unwilling to believe the story and knocked Eller out, escaping just before a fire engulfed Eller’s hideout. The Ifrit then appeared to the two men and told them the only way out of the curse was for one of them to die.
Devins than planned to shoot Terry and rid himself of the curse. Arlene foiled his plans by stabbing him in the neck, which allowed Terry to shoot Patrick, killing him and and satisfying the blood debt. But we all know that in the world of Bon Temps, things are not always as them seem …
