Occupation: The (Former) Guardian of the Authority
Who is Roman Zimojic?
Roman Zimojic was an ancient vampire who, as the head of the Authority, was the supreme leader of all vampires on earth. Roman believed in mainstreaming, and was one of the driving forces of bringing vamps “out of the coffin” and creating the AVL (American Vampire League) in order to integrate them into human society.
A ruthless and savvy politician, Roman believed in protecting his title and the mainstreaming movement by delivering the True Death to any vampire that opposed — usually with some good, old-fashioned torture first, in order to gain information he could use.
Though he initially held both Bill Compton and Eric Northman captive to find out if they were Sanguinistas, he eventually pardoned them after they tracked down Russell Edgington and brought him back to the compound.
His downfall was falling for and trusting Authority Chancellor Salome Agrippa, a beautiful vampire that Roman had been in a relationship with for over 400 years. She used her beauty to trick Roman into thinking she was loyal to him while she planned a takeover in order to turn the Authority into a Sanguinsita sect.
When a captive Russell was brought to Roman so he could stake the vamp, Russell attacked him instead and staked him with his own weapon. It was then that Salome’s plan was revealed to the rest of the group. Poor Roman! So many years of planning, just to have it all fall apart because of some religious zealots.
