Rutina Wesley Bio:

Rutina Wesley was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. The daughter of a Las Vegas showgirl and a professional tap dancer, Wesley's interest in the performing arts was piqued at a young age.  She attended the Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts and continued her theater education at the University of Evansville and eventually at The Julliard School in New York and The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London.

After graduation Wesley continued her acting career in New York and performed on Broadway in the David Hare production of The Vertical Hour. In 2007 Rutina Wesley got her big screen break starring as Raya Green in the film How She Move. Her luck continued that year and she was cast as Tara Thornton, best friend of the mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse in the HBO series True Blood.
