Who is Terry Bellefleur?
Terry (Todd Lowe) is Sherrif Andy Bellefleur’s (Chris Bauer) cousin. He’s an Iraq war veteran who suffers from PTSD (post traumatic stress disorder), and previously spent time in a VA hospital. He currently works as a cook at Merlotte’s, where he met his wife, Arlene Fowler Bellefleur (Carrie Preston).
The reserved veteran was pulled into the world of the supernatural by the maenad Maryann Forrester, and participated in her trance-induced orgies with Arlene. The couple continued their affair after Maryann was vanquished, and eventually fell in love and got married. Being a man of good character, when Arlene realized she was pregnant with psycho-ex Rene’s baby, Terry agreed to raise the child as his own. And when he discovered his cousin was addicted to V, Terry staged a one-person intervention and helped Andy get sober.
Terry’s PTSD resurfaced when his Commanding Officer, Patrick Devins (Scott Foley), showed up and brought back memories of their squad killing an innocent family in Iraq. Initially, Patrick convinced Terry that another member of their unit was setting fire to the other squad member’s homes, but it was revealed that an Ifrit (a vengeful fire spirit) was responsible instead.
Terry stopped the Ifrit by getting Patrick to confess that the deaths were his fault, and then killing him. The spirit then claimed Patrick’s body, which satisfied Terry’s blood debt. Now that he’s free from the torturous fire demon, Terry can concentrate on healing and being with his family … assuming he can get over the trauma of killing his old Marine buddy.
