Rory Cochrane in Dazed and Confused and Empire Records
Happy Rex Manning Day!
While we haven't seen a ton of high-profile work from this dude, lately, played iconic characters in two of our favorite movies from the mid-’90s.
In 1993, he played Ron Slater in Richard Linklater's Dazed and Confused, who stood out from the ensemble cast with that whole "[Martha Washington] was a hip, hip, hip lady, man" line. That character had two defining characteristics: scrawny and stoned.
The role Rory really became known for, though, was that of the sagelike Lucas in Empire Records. Mad with the responsibility of closing the store for the night, his character takes all the till money and blows it in Atlantic City. For the rest of the film, the Employee of the Week spouts his wisdom while confined to a couch, like "what's with today today?"
All in all, Rory did a superb job at making the '90s great. But what's he doing today? What does he look like? Is he still on the couch?
